LionsXII Defender Safuwan Baharudin Tilting Towards Malaysia Switch
Written by: Khalis Rifhan
With the LionsXII season ending after their exit from the Malaysia Cup a week ago, many clubs are after their star players signature, and one of those being courted is central defender Safuwan Baharudin.
The Singapore international has been a pillar in LionsXII defence, forming a formidable partnership with fellow Lions Baihakki Khaizan, and can be counted upon in attacks when the situation arises for his deployment as a make-shift striker.
While Safuwan’s mind is set on traveling across the causeway for the new season, he is yet to made a decision on which Malaysian clubs he will be joining as he have other important stuff to prepare for.
“There are so many things to think about now and I am getting married next month. I have yet to settle my contract for next season and yes there are interests in me from three Malaysian clubs.” said Safuwan
“But for now, I can’t confirm anything yet and all will be set by next Friday, be it in Singapore or Malaysia.
“With less time now, I have to also talk about this with my girlfriend as she will be following me wherever I am going.”
Though sources have also confirmed with Voxsports that Football Association of Singapore have offered Safuwan a two-year contract extension, he is likely to decline it and make the move abroad.
“The first option for me is to definitely move out because I had always wanted to venture out of Singapore. I can always return to play in Singapore again one day.” reiterated Safuwan
‘T-Team is one of them but unfortunately I can’t reveal the other two clubs.”
It is believed that one of the other offer comes from Malaysian Premier League outfit Negeri Sembilan, who is set to appoint ex-LionsXII coach V.Sundramoorthy after his resignation from the club earlier in the week.
